Breathalyzers: May Be Inadmissible in Court
A ruling from the Minnesota Supreme Court means big changes ahead for DWI cases. Currently, law enforcement rely heavily on breath-tests. They use a machine called the Intoxilyzer 5000, which generates results that can be used in court. But now, the Supreme Court has ruled that the state must have access to the technology behind the Intoxilyzer. But the company that makes the machines, won't release the software.

"The recession and higher gasoline prices have decimated the Irwin Jacobs company.

Genmar Holdings Inc., the Minneapolis-based boat manufacturer founded and headed by Twin Cities businessman Irwin Jacobs, Monday filed for protection from its creditors under federal bankruptcy laws."

Monsignor Patrick Melville McDowell, 81, died at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth on May 19, 2009. He was born in Hibbing on March 11, 1928 to Ada (Grenier) and William McDowell.

Let's keep our remaining wetlands safe.Four hundred years ago, in the area that would later become the lower 48 United States, there were approximately 220 million acres of wetlands. Today, there is less than half that amount remaining. In fact, we lose 80,000 acres of wetlands a year.
